| I am researching deforestation on Easter Island and I am trying to determine what manner of flora lived on the island prior to the catastrophic environmental destruction there. I know the island had a unique species of palm that was the tallest in the world, as well as toromiro trees which nearly escaped extinction. I know that pollen traces were found for many other plants. Anything else major? Additionally were the current palm trees and other plants not found on the island prior to recent centuries? Thanks in advance to anyone who knows. |
