 Nitric Oxide conversion to peroxynitrite This question is about the effect of peroxynitrite on cell death. Increasing PN production, decreases NO production (NO is scavenged in the process of creating ONOO-). However, the concern/thing that we didn’t understand was why PN doesn’t instantly kill cells since it’s a more potent radical. Sure, you decrease NO, so maybe you get less death that way, but you’re replacing it with something that seems like it would be even worse. So, why do you at least initially get less cell death?  |
