genes and cromossomes
 

DNA, genes and chromosomes are all sequences of nucleotides. So, what is the difference between them ?
I know that a gene is the collection of nucleotides that defines the code for the syntesis of a specific protein or for some human characteristic. But what defines a chromosomes?
We have 23 pairs of chromosomes. The pairs are connected with each other, or there are 23 pairs "floating" in the nucleous?

dnt confuse. i dnt know too much about that. i think they are qiute same. try to have some more advice....

The reason we know there are 23 chromosomes is that you can isolate them from cell undergoing mitosis (cell division). Chromosomes are a collection of genes which are made up of DNA (blue print of life). The cell packages these genes into chromosomes during mitosis in order to pass on this information to daughter cells in a more efficient manner. Otherwise the chromosomes aren't visible, they are unorganized in the nucleous.
