I'm writing a paper on a research article, but I don't really understand the procedure involved. I get most of it but... "The coating contains analogues that are coated with a fluorescent material. In the displacement assay process, the TB antigen displaces fluorescently-coated analogues and bonds more strongly to antibodies, causing a reduction in the fluorescent signal after excitation by the laser." Could someone please explain this to me? I understand antibodies bonding to antigens, but what is an analogue?

In that case the "analogue" is an analogue of the TB antigen. I mean, the "analogue" is like a fake TB antigen similar to the original TB antigen, but with enough difference as to be recognized by your antibody with less affinity than the original.

I don't know if I made myself clear, but that is what I understand for the article you quote above.
