Default In what way is meiosis different from mitosis?

a) meiosis produces incomplete cells, each with only half of the genetic code.
b) Meiosis produces idnetical cells, each with the complete genetic code.
c) Meiosis is exactly like mitosis, but it takes a longer period of time to complete.
d) Meiosis produced new cells exactly like the original cell.

Meiosis is the production of gametes, so it can't be (b) since the purpose of gametes is variation; (c) is incorrect for many reasons - mitosis occurs in all cells, meiosis only within the gonads, meiosis creates 4 different cells, mitosis only 2 identical, etc... this also means (d) is incorrect.
