Default Insect Identification?

Description:
between 1/2" and 1" in length
orange/brown body coloring
could fly
*what really caught my attention was that while we were sitting around the campfire it was flying low over the ground and would then proceed to jump around on the ground using its tail end like a pogo stick. It did this A LOT.

I saw it around central Pennsylvania.
