| Transpulmonary pressure - the difference between alveolar pressure and pleural pressure. The pressure that keeps the lung inflated. At rest trans pulmonary pressure is 5 cmH2O and pleural pressure is -5cmH2O When transpulmonary pressures reach 0 cmH2O it is due to a rupture or puncture usually from a gun shot, stabbing, or trauma. This is called a pneumothorax. |
