Respiratory System Question?
Ia. f transpulmonary pressure equals zero, what will happen to the lungs?
b. This is known as a _____________________.
Re: Respiratory System Question?
Transpulmonary pressure - the difference between alveolar pressure and pleural pressure. The pressure that keeps the lung inflated.
At rest trans pulmonary pressure is 5 cmH2O
and pleural pressure is -5cmH2O
When transpulmonary pressures reach 0 cmH2O it is due to a rupture or puncture usually from a gun shot, stabbing, or trauma. This is called a pneumothorax.
