Dichotomous Key! Question?

Dichotomous keys are constructed by biologists to identify between organisms. They are a series of pairs of characteristics to subdivide larger groups into smaller groups. The process continues until each organism can be separated from the others.

2. what are the limitations of keys as tools for identification? Why are they subject to change?
