| I dont think that they can, i was studying the definitions of species last year and about the various barriers to reproduction. I think this is classed as the mechanical barrier because although the animals have the same chromosome number and are of the same species, mechanically they cannot mate, due to size differences etc etc. I cannot tell you for certain as I do not know of any studies which have been done on the subject, but I doubt it. |
