| So we started off breeding red-eyed virgin females with white-eyed males and all of their offspring had red eyes, as they are supposed to. Then when we crossed the offspring with each other we got 65 red-eyed females, 25 red-eyed males, 25 white-eyed males and 4 white-eyed females. When you set up a punnet square if a red-eyed male and a red-eyed heterozygous female mate - their offspring should not include any white-eyed females because the gene for eye colour is X-linked! Does anyone know how we got white-eyed females? |
