| Hi, We have 64 codons from genetic code, but I don't know how to answer these two questions: 1. How many cases in the genetic code would you fail to know the amino acid specified by a codon if you knew only the first two nucleotides of the codon? 2. How many cases would you fail to know the first two nucleotides of the codon if you knew which amino acid is specified by it? Please help me on these two questions. Kathy |

| Enter the sentence "This table shows the 64 codons and the amino acid each codon codes for." into Google with the quotation marks, and click on the first link. This site lists the codons, amino acids, and letter codes. The point of the exercise is to find in which cases 1) the same first two letters of the code refers to different acids and 2) the same amino acid is referred to by two or more first-two-letter codes. You should be able to figure that out fairly easily, although a sheet of paper might help. |
