| Hi it seems biology is based on the cell theory that all life is composed of one or more cells. Is there any case that this is not true? |

| The answer to your question is "we do not know." According to the present definition of life, no. There is, however, an ongoing debate as to the nature of viral matter- is it alive? semi-living? et cetera. There are many things about viral matter which differentiates it from "ordinary" protein globules, such as its ability to reproduce (though parasitically), its genetics and heredity, its ability to move and respond, and the fact that some types of virus have actually become infected themselves. It seems that life may need to get around the blockage of cell theory.... |
