| Hello, all. I am very new to software BioEdit. So please bare with my basic questions. I want to use bioedit to compare pairwise similarity between two or more genes. After selecting both genes, which tab shall i go to get the % similarity data i am looking for? Is it under sequence tab--pairwise alignment? Or I have to calculate a similarity matrix first? please help |

| and under sequence tab-pairwise alignment-calculate silimlarity/identity for two sequence gives me a result: Sequence 1: A Sequence 2: D Identities: 0.2212349 what does it mean, does it mean that only 22% of the sequence are the same? The paper I read, they published similarity percentage data, between A and D, they are about 72% similar to each other, so i guess the identities: 0.2212349 does not make sence? please help?!! I am desperate. noone in my lab is using this software, there are soo many things I need to teach myself. |
