| Hi everyone, I'm part way through the experimental data collection phase of my master's project. This was analysing certain genes for particular mutations that cause blindness. We came up with several disease causing SNPs. The second part of my project was to look at computer simulations and how well some of the available software might be able to give us experimental clues as to the types of changes that are occuring within the protein and relate this to the disease phenotype and possibly direct laboratory experimentation. A simple example would be the predicted interuption of a phosphorylation site by one of these SNPs being confirmed by a neural network prediction server like NetPhos 2.0. Then we could devise an experiment to back up this prediction. Has anyone done anything similar or has seen any papers on this type of analysis? It seems pretty limited in publication from what I have read. I'm pretty new to this so I might be looking in the wrong places! |
