| Dear All, Sometimes it is very difficult to understand what the NCBI annotation staff does. I am currently working on this protein DCNP1, the database records for the accession number NP_570900 says it is an intronless gene.("This intronless gene is specifically expressed in dendritic cells (DCs), which are potent antigen-presenting cells involved in activating naive T cells to initiate antigen-specific immune response. The encoded protein is localized mainly in the perinucleus. One of the alleles (A/T) of this gene, that causes premature translation termination at aa 117, has been associated with an increased prevalence of major depression in humans." If one follows this trail and goes to the SWISSPROT ID Q8TF63 and the details thereby to ENSEMBL entry for the same gene ENSG0000185555,in the exon information the information that is shown is that gene is not intronless and the sequence can be seen in the mentioned database. Kindly suggest some measures to look into this matter. |
