Default Using an old gel to isolate peptides?

I have a dried SDS PAGE gel in my lab notebook. It has been in there for 3 years and there is a band that I am interested in sequencing. Does anyone have an idea if it is worth the attempt to have it sequenced or do you think it will not work because of some type of modification that has occurred over time.

Thanks for you thoughts.
