Default Does anyone know what it stands for???

This may seem like a really trivial question (I apologise if it is!) But I have looked everywhere, and I cannot seem to find out what FLAG stands for. I'm using the term FLAG in the context of the tag added to the N-terminus of proteins in certain assays, so as to precipitate that protein using antibodies.

thanks a lot,

xxx

Hi
welcome sometime person get such time of problem, so i think there is no wrong to ask about these.
i think FLAG is an abbrevation of amino acids that are present at the N terminal of protein and these are following amino acids
Phenylalanine, Leucine, Alanine and Glycine. i am not hundred percent sure about it but according to my guess these are amino acids.
this is just like the His tag in which there are 6 histidine residues.

FLAG-tag, or FLAG octapeptide, is a polypeptide protein tag used for affinity chromatography.
The sequence of the FLAG-tag is DYKDDDDK.

Boris.
