| my assignment deals with affinity chromatography for lactate dehydrogenase from rat liver and then using procion red for an assay. I have been asked to discuss 'recovery of activity' for which I need an explanation.Also,how is it possible to recover a greater amount of activity than was applied as well as possible further investigation for any expalnation.PLEASE help! |

| If you speak about SPECIFIC activity, this is kind of obvious: the purity of the protein is higher, so the specific activity increased. If you mean that the TOTAL activity increased, it is a different thing, and it is hard to explain. Probably, an inhibitory factor was removed during purification? |
