Question Elisa

Hi,
I would like to know if ELISA can be used as a simple spectrophotomer to analyze a large number os samples for lipid and carbohidrate determinations.
A friend of mine is convinced that it is possible but I have some dubts, but I do not have any experience in the use of this instrument.
Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Elisa

The ELISA is just a 96-well plate format for conducting an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, which undergoes a chromogenic reaction that is read by a simple spectrophotometer. Therefore the same spectrophotometer VIS or UV/VIS combo can be used for other absorbance readings (i.e. non-ELISA assays) like protein quantitation, OD260/280 DNA/RNA absorbance ratios etc.
