i know a girl is going out with a guy that is doing some genetic research. He makes it sound very exciting. I wish I was doing that.

I was in happy hour with him one time and he was talking about doing experiment on rats and hoping to replicate it onto human beings. He does pretty long hours. Its sort of like a post PHD research thing.

well the effect of environment pollutant will be the same on the wild type organism and on the GM organism, so it is dangerous for all, but yes there are chances tha the GM organism may be more dangerous.
but mostly it depends on the application. GE has termendious application and can do a very good for humanity but in the meanwhile it could result in the destruction of whole world.

Genetic engineering should be encouraged....It plays a crucial role in our daily life.
GE enables to do something it would not normally do .
for example, getting a micro-organism to produce human insulin for diabetics, or a sheep to produce a human blood-clotting protein in her milk, in both cases a transgenic method.

If man has discovered something, make use of it. GE is one of the most important human inventions, but as many of man inventions, it can be used for evil purposes. The bad thing here is that we are using GE selfishly, just for mankind preservation without properly thinking in the rest of living species, but I guess that can't be helped.
