| <x-flowed>Dear Plant Biologists, There will be two new faculty searches in our department at Vanderbilt for which plant biology applications are welcome. There are not many plant biologists currently at Vanderbilt (mostly my lab and the labs of evolutionary biologists like John Burke and David McCauley), but we recognize the need to enhance our faculty with some plant biologists. A key criterion for searches in our department has always been the ability of an applicant to interact fruitfully with existing members of the department. The facilities at Vanderbilt for plant biology are excellent, with a state-of-the-art greenhouse and dedicated space for plant growth chambers. The Vanderbilt Medical School is immediately adjacent to our department and has an excellent faculty working on signal transduction, biophysics, imaging, biochemistry, pharmacology, and other topics of relevance to plant biology. If you are a plant biologist who can profit from interactions with enthusiastic colleagues that might not be plant biologists, but who are working on interesting topics that "cross hybridize" with your own research, Vanderbilt might be the place for you. I encourage any plant biologists to apply to one of the positions described below. Best wishes, Carl Johnson Dr. Carl Johnson Dept. of Biological Sciences VU Station B, Box 35-1634 Vanderbilt University Nashville, TN 37235-1634 USA TEL: 615-322-2384 FAX: 615-936-0205 Email: [Only registered users see links. ] Website: [Only registered users see links. ] FACULTY POSITION CELL BIOLOGY The Department of Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt University seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position in cell biology. We are especially interested in candidates studying topics such as protein trafficking, cell polarity, regulation of the cytoskeleton, signal transduction or other areas that complement existing strengths in our department and in any system (plant, animal, microbial). The central criteria for this position are excellence in research and the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate students with a high level of effectiveness. For information about the Department, visit our website: "http://sitemason.vanderbilt.edu/biosci". Applicants should send a letter of application together with a curriculum vitae, a statement of current and future research interests, three letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations, if available, and selected reprints to: Cell Biology Search Committee, Department of Biological Sciences, Vanderbilt University, VU Station B 351634, Nashville, TN 37235-1634 U.S.A. Review of applicants will begin October 1, 2004, and will continue until the position has been filled. Vanderbilt University is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and minority candidates are encouraged to apply. FACULTY POSITION MOLECULAR GENETICS The Department of Biological Sciences at Vanderbilt University seeks candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position in molecular genetics. While all applications are welcome, we are especially interested in candidates studying replication, recombination, repair, protein or RNA targeting, cytoskeleton, or intracellular organization in any system (plant, animal, microbial).
