| Cell and Developmental Biology =95 QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY - The Department of Biology=20 invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured=20 faculty position and Canada Research Chair in=20 cell and developmental biology. Preference will=20 be given to candidates with proven leadership in=20 building a research group using modern imaging=20 technology and quantitative, experimental methods=20 to investigate topical areas in eukaryotic model=20 organisms. The successful applicant will be=20 selected primarily on the basis of overall=20 excellence, but should complement existing=20 research programs at Queen's which use modern=20 imaging technology to answer questions in areas=20 such as cell biology, neurobiology or=20 development. The Department of Biology has superb=20 facilities in the new Biosciences Complex, and=20 access to a state-of-the-art Protein Function=20 Discovery proteomics facility=20 ([Only registered users see links. ]). Queen's University is a=20 medium-size university with a full range of=20 professional programs including a medical school=20 and teaching hospitals, providing opportunities=20 for collaborations with colleagues from other=20 units such as Biochemistry, the School of=20 Computing and several health science departments.=20 Queen=92s is recognized nationally for the quality=20 of its undergraduate and graduate programs, which=20 attract outstanding students. Kingston is an=20 attractive community of 150 000, situated on the=20 shores of Lake Ontario, close to Ottawa, Montreal=20 and Toronto. Qualifications for this position=20 include a PhD, postdoctoral experience and=20 evidence of excellent research published in high=20 impact scientific journals. The successful=20 candidate will be expected to be an excellent=20 teacher and to develop a vigorous, externally=20 funded research program. A separate CFI/OIT proposal for adding=20 major new biological imaging instrumentation and=20 infrastructure to the Queen=92s Department of=20 Biology has been submitted for approval. The=20 successful candidate will be appointed at a rank=20 corresponding to their qualifications. Expected=20 date of appointment is January 1, 2005, subject=20 to negotiation.
