What would be the significance of an experiment showing an enzyme's

involvement in apoptosis? I am involved in such an experiment, and need to put together a "future directions and significance" paragraph. I have ideas about what to say, but I'd like to either confirm them or get some more ideas, so I ask: why is discovering the role an enzyme plays in apoptosis is important? What is the significance of increasing our knowledge about the apoptotic pathway? Thanks for your feedback.

Apoptosis is also known as programmed cell death. If we understood the enzymes that were involved, we could potentially control it's production, which in turn could either help selectively kill cells (such as cancerous ones) or prevent cell death, which would improve health and longevity.
