Default Blood cell tumour in dog led to death? any experience or knowledge please?

We noticed my 10 yr old patterdale terrier had been drinking a bit more and we noticed a smallish lump under her armpit. We took her to the vets and he did full blood tests (all normal) then urine test (all normal) then x rays which were fine. he decided to operate to remove the lump and only managed to get a small sample as it was quite embedded. He said there had been excessive bleeding so strapped her up and we took her home. She was lethargic all night and couldnt even stand up, we took her back first thing and he was concerned as the wound was still bleeding so he put her on a drip and had to reopen the wound to try and stop the bleeding. We had a call that afternoon saying they just couldnt stop the bleeding and couldnt find where it was coming from and he recommended putting her to sleep. We rushed down and she was in a right state on a plasma drip and still bleeding heavily so we had to put her to sleep it was devastating. He thinks it may be a blood cell tumour. We are waiting on histoligy now. Any experience with this? We are heartbroken and just want to know. thanks
