Default Use of KCN to induce Necrosis - Apoptosis

Hello,
just wondering if anyone has experience using KCN in cell lines in order to induce a stable rate of cell injury.
I have found that it is highly variable when using it in culture (INS1 cells). I have tried several culture periods, titration of the dose, careful adjustment of pH, different culture surfaces, etc but nothing seems to be reliable. One experiment shows X result and then when I try it for a second and third time the values are all over the board.

Also, does anyone know if KCN used in mM concentrations can induce cell injury to other types of cells present in the same tissue culture incubator not receiving any type of treatment? (aerosolization?).

I would really appreciate any input from anyone that has had some experience with this compund.

Thanks!.

SD
