Default Cancer and Apoptosis

Hi
when the cell is virally infected and virus is integrated into the genome and leads to cancer because it is inserted into some gene that is involved in cell cycle regulation, then why the cell does not go towards apoptosis, although it is main requirment that when there is some disturbance in cell, then it should try to resolve that problem, if that is not resolved then it should move towards apoptosis but it not happens, why???

i hope you will guide me

aftab

Default Re: cancer

Cancer cells many times shut down the apoptosis pathway.

Mutations in p53, and other pro-apoptotic proteins decrease the frequency which cancer cells or transformed cells undergo apoptosis.

hope that helps
