Default transport of antibodies

Hi,

I have a general question about sending antibodies. Normally Ab are send in a form of powder, then they can be send via a normal post. How it is with Ab when they are already diluted in water? Should they be send on ice then?

thanks,
maria

Dear Maria,

hi and welcome!

For antibody transport and delivery, usually antibodies are sent stored frozen in dry ice. Ice would only last a few hours...

If you are shipping, all express couriers (FedEx, DHL, TNT, UPS) usually won't accept such a shipment with dry ice inside - check just in case).

EIther way you can ship dry ice by air cargo if you cant...

cheers!

. On the other hand you could use refrigerated ice packs (Blue Ice) packs which keep the package around 4 C... without freezing.

If all else fails.. you could consider preparing a glycerol stock of the antibody and send it with ice packs.. but i would think freeze drying it would be a better choice..

Hi!

Freeze Drying of antibodies it is not a good idea! A great loss of activity occur. 20% glycerol NAP buffer(50 mM NAp, 100mM borate 150mM NaCl) antibody concentration 5 better 10mg\ml) / after shipping at 4 C , immediately aliquote and freeze ( Freeze\thaw more than 1 cycle glycerol stocks strongly not recommend
