Default Proper solutions for reconstitution?

Hello, after looking over this forum a bit,I realize this may be a very elementary question compared to the rest, but I hope someone can help me with a bit of information regardless.
I have been interested in various peptides and antibodies for a while now. It's all very fascinating and the implications are so enormous! One question that I have is this.
When one gets a peptide or polyclonal antibody for various research purposes in lyophilized form from the manufacturer, how do you know what solution will be proper for the specific product to keep it stable and transfer said product into various cell cultures, test tubes, etc? Are there any general rules or guidelines to look at or any other specific sites that I could research on?I have seen different products using everything from acetic acid to plain sterile injection water to mix with for this purpose.
Thanks for any advice,I appreciate it.

The majority of Lyophilized antibodies are ready for reconstitution with plain old molecular grade water, because they were lyophilized in a PBS/Tris buffer, so all the salts are still there, Sodium azide is also there to inhibit microbial growth.

Look at this pdf file for dissolving synthetic peptides --> [Only registered users see links. ]

Check out the product inserts for your potential antibodies etc before you buy (it should tell you exactly what buffer your antibody was lyophilized in and the volume for resuspension). If they don't have very good information look elsewhere.

hey thanks alot ill look over that info.
another general question.regarding the old molecular grade water u mentioned.where would a good source to get that be?and would it be detrimental to use Bacteriostatic Water USP or 0.9% NaCl Bacteriostatic Water, would the small amount of the benzyl alcohol hurt the peptide or antibody?
thanks again

I get my water from Sigma --HPLC grade chromasolv water.
Don't know about bacteriostatic water.
