Default Antibody dilution basic question

Hello,
When on the product sheet it says 1:100 or 1:200 antibody dilution. What does that mean? Does it mean 1ul of antibody into 100ul of diluting solution?
Just want to confim,
MS

Default Re: Antibody dilution basic question

Hello Minusach,
yes you are right. Usually 10mL is made up so that you have enough to cover your western blot (if you are doing a western).

1:10 Dilutions or Decimal dilutions are made by adding 1 ml to 9 ml. Proportional amounts can be utilized such as by adding 0.1 ml to 0.9 ml or 11 ml to 99 ml. For antibodies, this can be 10ul in 90ul of buffer.

1:100 antibody dilution is 1ul in 100ul, 10uL in 1mL or 100uL in 10mL
1:100 is also called Centimal dilutions, and can be made by adding 1 ml to 99 ml. This can also be done by adding 0.1 ml to 9.9 ml.
reference:Dilutions and Plating

1:1000 antibody dilution is 10uL in 10mL

cheers!
