Gel Streaking

I have been getting some streaking in my gels. I initially thought it was degradation, but have had the same result using fresh material. My PCR reactions are 20 microliters and I load about 2 or 3 microliters. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hi Lisa,
welcome to the site. Can you post an image of the gel?

Sounds like a buffer or gel issue. Have you tried another buffer TAE or TBE / fresher buffer? What about gel voltage, you may be heating up your gel, is it hot when it comes out?

I am also facing the same problem of vertical streaks which are clearly visible between the DNA and RNA bands on the gel, the gel was not hot but i ran the samples for 20 minute at 150V,I used TBE buffer for this, I am a beginner so needs appropriate guidance that what can be the probable reason for it, may I use the same DNA samples for PCR or they have some degradation or other sort of abnormality in them?

People,I have also been getting streaking in my gel......i am using qPCR and loading the PCR products in a gel gives me streaking near the wells .......is there a problem in the reaction or the gel???
